Fresno firefighters responded just before 1 p.m. Monday to multiple 911 calls reporting a vacant house fire on the 1200 block of W. Vassar Avenue.

Crews arriving at the scene saw a large column of smoke and declared a working fire. Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from a vacant, boarded-up home.

Initial reports suggested someone might be inside, prompting crews to enter rescue mode and request a second alarm for additional resources.
