A new immersive experience is bringing the sights, sounds, and flavors of Thailand to Los Angeles.

Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine will present Thai Village at this year’s Los Angeles Times Food Bowl, transforming the event into a celebration of Thai heritage and culinary artistry.

The experience is led by Chef Kasem Saengsawang, a Food Network “Chopped” champion known for blending traditional Thai flavors with modern culinary twists. Chef Kasem was born and raised in Thailand, drawing inspiration from his grandmother’s cooking.

The Thai Village at LA Times Food Bowl

Thai Village is organized in partnership with Thai SELECT, a certification program by Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce that honors authentic Thai restaurants around the world.

The Thai SELECT program, similar to the Michelin Star, will certify restaurants in four categories — Thai SELECT Casual and Thai SELECT 1, 2 and 3 Stars — recognizing their quality and dining experience. The certification will also extend to Thai food products that meet international standards.

Guests will be invited to “Discover Thai Flavors, Discover Thai SELECT” through a collective of acclaimed Thai SELECT-certified restaurants. Restaurants to be featured are Farmhouse Kitchen, Chiang Rai Thai, Manaao Thai Comfort Food, Blue Elephant Thai Cuisine, Emporium Thai and Kanomwaan Thai Gelato & Dessert Cafe.

Each restaurant will highlight a different facet of Thai cuisine, from street-style dishes to refined regional specialties, creating a culinary journey meant to capture the soul of Thailand.

The design of Thai Village is inspired by the Great White Naga, a mythical figure symbolizing protection and transformation, reflecting the event’s theme of bridging tradition with modernity.

“We wanted to create a space where people can not only taste our food but also feel the warmth and hospitality of our culture,” Chef Kasem said. “This is about building a community, sharing our stories, and bringing a piece of Thailand to Los Angeles.”

Los Angeles Thai Chefs Hold Cooking Demonstration

A highlight of the event will be a live cooking demonstration featuring Chef Kasem and Chef Jazz Singsanong of Jitlada, two of LA’s Thai culinary figures, which will happen Friday evening. Organizers say the collaboration will showcase their shared commitment to authenticity and innovation.

Thai Village is part of a growing movement to spotlight Thai cuisine’s depth and cultural significance on the global stage.

Organizers say the event is both a celebration and an invitation for attendees to experience the warmth, artistry and spirit of Thailand.

The LA Food Bowl takes place Oct. 10–11 from 7:30 to 10 p.m., with VIP early entry at 6:30 p.m. It is open to ages 21 and older and will be held at City Market Social House, 1145 San Pedro St., Los Angeles, CA 90015.
