Hundreds of koi fish from California and out of state will compete at the 45th annual Fresno Koi Show this weekend at Woodward Park.
Hosted by the Central California Koi Society in partnership with the Shinzen Friendship Garden, the event is Saturday and Sunday with free admission.
“The Fresno Koi Show has the perfect location in Woodward Park, next to the Shinzen Friendship Garden,” said Lisa Lamoure, CCKS President.
Wide Range of Activities
Certified judges from Los Angeles, Michigan, and Georgia will evaluate koi ranging from 6 to 36 inches in size for quality, variety, and size.
Visitors can tour the garden’s waterfalls, koi pond, tea house, moon bridge, and Clark Bonsai Collection.
Hundreds of koi will be available for sale, including imports from Japan. Vendors also will sell koi food, products, gift items, and local food trucks, organizers said.
Sponsors Hikari USA, Nijikawa USA, Champion Nishikigoi, and Scrubcan Inc. are supporting the show, which serves as the koi society’s main fundraiser and helps maintain the Shinzen Friendship Garden’s koi pond.
Event hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Group Activity Area near the Shinzen Friendship Garden.
