The Los Angeles Rams went from struggling to simply finish with a winning record for more than a decade to now being viewed as one of the premier franchises in the NFL. That didn’t happen overnight, but the hiring of Les Snead and Sean McVay had a massive impact on the team’s turnaround.

McVay and Snead are regularly ranked among the best head coaches and general managers in football, together giving the Rams an outstanding tandem capable of keeping the team’s Super Bowl window open.

As a whole, the Rams’ front office is undeniably top-notch. NFL general managers and head coaches agree, too. The Athletic polled 29 GMs, head coaches and high-ranking team executives to rank the top front offices in football and the Rams finished third. They earned 84 points for the votes they received, behind only the Eagles (177) and Ravens (164).

One executive called the Rams “the model of outside-the-box thinking,” while another applauded them for staying “ahead of where defenses are trending” thanks to McVay and Snead being on the same page.

“(Snead) has no ego and just loves evaluating players,” an executive said. “They have drafted well. They had the (‘f— them picks’ mantra) for a while to get top talent and now have changed up and are drafting and infusing their team with a ton of good young talent. Sean has a hell of a culture there, and he knows what he wants.”

The Rams have built a loaded roster on both sides of the ball, mostly through the draft. They’ve acquired veterans via free agency and trade, including Davante Adams, Matthew Stafford and Kevin Dotson, but most of their roster is homegrown – a testament to how well the Rams draft and develop.
