Kerman police conducted a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint on Madera Avenue on Saturday, contacting 219 of the 323 vehicles that passed through.

During the checkpoint, 22 vehicles were pulled into secondary inspection, resulting in 17 field sobriety tests and four DUI arrests.

Officers also towed four vehicles, issued two citations for open containers, cited seven unlicensed drivers, and contacted one driver for a suspended license.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
