Fresno police cited 186 people during a citywide bicycle and pedestrian safety operation on Saturday, authorities announced Monday.
The Fresno Police Department said 132 drivers were cited for violations including failing to yield, unsafe speed, using a handheld device while driving and failing to stop for a red light.
Another 54 citations were issued to pedestrians and cyclists for various code violations.
The operation ran from noon to 10 p.m. and aimed to improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists, police said.
A second enforcement operation is planned for Oct. 18 in recognition of National Pedestrian Safety Month.
The program is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
