The instructor fired by College of the Sequoias and suspended by State Center Community College District for comments about his desire to see Charlie Kirk’s family dead appears to have a history of making vitriolic statements at the expense of regular coursework.

A Madera Community College student taking Shaynon Scheidt’s biology course reached out to GV Wire with recordings of Scheidt’s course made before the district put him on leave. That student wanted to stay anonymous out of fear of retribution from Scheidt.

Another student at College of the Sequoias recorded Scheidt saying he wished conservative advocate Charlie Kirk’s family died along with him.

On the recordings at Madera Community College, Scheidt goes on expletive-laced tangents about Elon Musk, police raping women and killing Black men, and about Hulk Hogan, the student said.

“He was actually a piece of shit misogynist, child abuser, rapist, Nazi. I hope he suffered, I hope he suffered for hours,” Scheidt said on the recording about Hulk Hogan’s death provided by the student. “I hope his whole family dies.”

The student says Scheidt regularly disparaged conservative figures and religion, and alleged that the government had tried to assassinate him three times.

He also allegedly told students that their complaints about him would go nowhere because of his tenure.

“I’ve had a professor before voice their political views, but not in a way like this, and I never minded it,” the student said. “It would annoy me sometimes but never to the point where I voiced it to anyone and thought it was a huge problem. This one, I think, is kind of a huge problem and (he) shouldn’t be teaching a class.”

Reviews on Scheidt, Positive or Negative, Speak About His Political Rants

The student started recording Scheidt after his family told him to do so after returning home with stories about the instructor. They said they considered filing a complaint at the end of the year but did not want Scheidt to find out who made the complaint.

The student said Scheidt told the class both the government and Scheidt’s family had tried to kill him for his beliefs.

Scheidt had been working at Madera Community College going back to 2012, according to a spokesperson from the district. Students on Ratemyprofessors.com going back to 2017 gave Scheidt mixed reviews, most either praising him or admonishing him. A common thread, however, was political rants.

“Inappropriate and scary professor,” one reviewer said about Scheidt. “I would RUN if this is the class you’re thinking about.”

A 5-star reviewer said Scheidt offered help.

“Took the class twice. Nice, funny guy who cares about his students. Study guides are helpful, no homework, just exams. Extra credit is offered. Ask for help and he will help you. Just don’t take the class if you’re too sensitive about politics and such lol, not a bad guy just vocal about his opinion, which I appreciated. Easiest bio class.”

Those statements did not surprise the student who spoke with GV Wire, adding that the class often was not about biology.

“There’s no homework, there’s very little work. The labs are really easy, they’re really simple,” the student said.

The student said the district made the right move putting Scheidt on leave. The student also praised the replacement instructor, saying they have learned more from the new instructor than from Scheidt in a matter of days.

“I think they did the right thing. I’m already very impressed with this professor. He’s not new to the college, but he’s new to me. I think he’s an actually amazing professor. I think he’s very good, he sticks to biology and I think he loves biology and he loves teaching it,” the student said.
