Fresno got a moment in the national spotlight this week when it was the butt of a joke on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Even though Fresno seems to always be at the tail end of the joke, we still prevail … until the next one.

The late-night show featured comedian Josh Meyers playing California Gov. Gavin Newsom — but with a twist, the governor as a satirical version of President Donald Trump.

After a monologue in which Kimmel highlighted Newsom “mocking and mimicking” Trump on social media, the stage was set for the sketch.

The sketch comes as the real Newsom has recently leaned into social media tactics similar to those of Trump.

Newsom has said that his social media bit is satire of what the president does, a move that has sparked mixed reactions across the political spectrum.

Make Fresno Dank AF Again

“Between me and you, being Trump feels great,” Kimmel’s Newsom imitator told Kimmel. “You get to say anything. ‘Fresno is a hellhole. I’m deploying the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Fresno to make it suck less. There will be a chili pepper on every corner in Fresno, making sure that everyone rages. We’re going to make Fresno dank as f—k again.’”

The actor then capped the bit by putting on a bright-red hat emblazoned with “Make Fresno Dank AF Again.”

The impersonator took the gag even further by unveiling mock “anti-Trump merch,” including what he called a big book of birthday letters to Jeffrey Epstein and a partnership with Skrillex to sell the Kama Sutra — a jab at Trump’s Bible-selling venture.
