Two students were arrested after a fight involving a knife at Visalia’s Redwood High School on Monday morning, authorities said.

A Youth Services Officer already on campus was notified of the altercation around 10:15 a.m. and quickly intervened, police said. No one was seriously injured.

Both students were taken into custody without further incident. Youth Services Officers are continuing to investigate.

Officials said the campus remains safe for students and staff, and reminded the community: “If you see something, say something.”

The principal of Redwood High School, Dr. Brandon Gridiron, also released this statement:

“This morning, during our 1st and 2nd passing period, two students engaged in a fight in the restroom where a small knife was involved. School administrative staff and the campus Youth Services Officer intervened, and the students were taken into custody. One student sustained non-critical injuries and received medical attention on campus before being transported by ambulance. We will continue to work closely with the Visalia Police Department to investigate the incident and ensure appropriate consequences are administered.

“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We continue to encourage our community to say something, if they see something. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly.”
