The Community Media Access Collaborative 72-Hour Film Race is expanding screening opportunities due to high demand.

The film race is a hit, completely selling out within days.

In response, CMAC moved the screening into a larger theater room at Maya Cinemas, which quickly sold out as well.

But don’t fret if you weren’t one of the lucky ones to snag a ticket.

To accommodate those unable to get a seat, all film race videos will air and be available on demand after 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The short films will air on CMAC 1 – Public Channel (Xfinity 93, AT&T 99), through the CMAC app, and here.

This excitement reflects the Valley’s support for local creativity and community-driven storytelling, CMAC said in a statement.

72-Hour Film Race

The 72-Hour Film Race is a creative challenge, forcing participants to think on their feet and push their creativity limits.

Participating teams received packs containing their film’s title and a theme, action, or prop that must be included at noon on Aug. 1.

Then, the countdown began as teams rushed to write, shoot, and edit a three-to-five-minute PG-13 film.

As an additional twist, all films must be shot on a mobile tablet or cellular device — taking inspiration from Tangerine and 28 Years Later.

Participants had to submit finished films by noon Aug. 3.
