A driver on probation was arrested early Tuesday after leading Visalia police on a pursuit through city streets, authorities said.

Just after 2 a.m., an officer attempted to stop a vehicle that remained stationary through an entire green light cycle near Lovers Lane and Mineral King Avenue.

Visalia police said the driver, later identified as Jose Garcia Reyer, 34, failed to yield and fled, briefly stopping multiple times before taking off again.

Officers deployed a spike strip at Caldwell Avenue and Court Street, successfully disabling the vehicle. Reyer abandoned the car near Court Street and Beech Avenue and tried to flee on foot, but was quickly arrested.

Reyer, who is on probation for vehicle theft, was booked on suspicion of felony evading, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest.
