Six people were arrested early Sunday after a large fight broke out at a party in Visalia, police said.

Officers responded around 1:55 a.m. to reports of a disturbance involving about 40 people in the 200 block of East Sweet.

When they arrived, several individuals were uncooperative and attempted to block access to the backyard, according to the Visalia Police Department.

As officers tried to make arrests, others at the scene allegedly interfered.

Police ultimately arrested six people on suspicion of resisting arrest, obstructing law enforcement, and attempting to incite a riot.
