A house fire near downtown Fresno displaced six people and destroyed a home under construction on Sunday evening, authorities said.
Just before 7 p.m., Fresno Fire Department crews responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a structure fire on the 700 block of C Street.
Firefighters arrived to find it fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to a neighboring residence.
Due to the intensity of the blaze, a second alarm was called, and a total of 49 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
Crews were able to contain the fire, but the structure under construction was declared a total loss.
A nearby home sustained moderate damage, displacing three adults and three children. The American Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing, firefighters said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
