Sen. Lindsey Graham said in a Fox News interview that the U.S. should consider military intervention to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, warning that failure to act could trigger another world war.

“Let’s stop this threat before he gets a nuclear weapon. Let’s end this reign of terror. Let’s do it now,” Graham said, drawing comparisons to the appeasement of Adolf Hitler before World War II. He added, “If we don’t fight for our freedom, we will lose it.”

The South Carolina Republican argued that U.S. troops would support such a move. “If you ask them, would you be willing to risk your life to stop the Ayatollah from having a nuclear weapon, all of them would say yes,” he said.

Right-wing political commentator and podcast host Matt Walsh criticized Graham’s remarks on X, saying the senator was calling for “a full scale invasion of Iran for the sake of ‘Fighting for our freedom.’ ”

“This is insane, reckless madness,” Walsh wrote, calling Graham “a warmongering a**hole who’s been in office for 30 years and never done a single thing to make life better for Americans.”

He urged conservatives to reject Graham and others like him, writing, “A regime change war in the Middle East has never made Americans freer. It has nothing to do with our freedom whatsoever.”

Walsh added that Graham is “feeding you the same lie that these types have been pushing for three decades and hoping you’re dumb enough not to notice.”
