Fresno Murder Suspect Arrested in Madera County Following Shooting

Fresno police arrested a man suspected in a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday evening near Griffith Way and Hughes Avenue.

Officers responded at 6:51 p.m. following a ShotSpotter alert of six gunshots. They found Nicholas Bolanos, 33, hunched over and bleeding from the chest.

Bolanos was taken to Community Regional Medical Center but later died from his injuries.

Homicide detectives identified Scott Alvarado, 41, as the suspect after speaking with witnesses.

Investigators said Bolanos and Alvarado were acquaintances living together for about a month. The shooting reportedly followed a verbal dispute between the two.

Alvarado fled Fresno after the incident and was believed to be in the North Fork area of Madera County.

On Friday, plainclothes detectives located and arrested him without incident in North Fork.
