A man is dead and three others are injured following a rollover crash Saturday evening on Trimmer Springs Road that investigators say was caused by a drunk driver.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash at approximately 7:15 p.m. just north of Lakeview Avenue.

According to CHP, a white GMC pickup was speeding southbound when the driver failed to navigate a sweeping right curve.

The vehicle veered off the east side of the road, down a steep embankment, and rolled several times before coming to rest about 200 feet from the roadway against a tree.

A 40-year-old male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other passengers were treated for injuries ranging from minor to moderate, police said.

CHP said alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.

The 40-year-old Fresno man driving the truck was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.

Due to his injuries, he was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center.

He will be booked into the Fresno County Jail upon his release, police said.
