Fresno County Wildfire Grows to 350 Acres, Prompts Evacuations

A wildfire that broke out Thursday near Highway 198 and Firestone Avenue west of Coalinga has burned approximately 350 acres and is 25% contained, according to CalFire.

The Firestone Fire remains active and is burning in Fresno County as of Friday morning. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Evacuation orders are in effect for zones P19 and P20, while evacuation warnings have been issued for zones P18, P23, and P24. Highway 198 at Firestone Avenue is closed as fire crews continue efforts to strengthen control lines.

No structures have been reported damaged or destroyed, and no injuries or fatalities have been reported.

The response includes 240 personnel, 16 engines, five bulldozers, four hand crews, three water tenders, and one helicopter are fighting the blaze.

CalFire Fresno-Kings Unit is operating in unified command with local agencies.
