Protesters are expected to gather at multiple sites across Fresno on Saturday as part of the national “No Kings Day” movement, a coordinated effort to counter what organizers describe as authoritarianism and ego-driven politics.
A rally is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Cary Park, 4750 N. Fresno St. near Fashion Fair. That will be followed by a protest on Shaw Avenue and Fresno Street at 10 a.m. There will be an additional protest at 10 a.m. at Blackstone and Nees avenues, according to Reddit posts promoting the event. Hundreds of similar rallies are expected nationwide.
The demonstrations coincide with a military parade in Washington, D.C., marking the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary, which also falls on President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday and Flag Day.
The Fresno Police Department said that it has a plan in place with extra resources to ensure the safety of the protesters, attendees, and the surrounding community.
The 50501 Movement — short for “50 states, 50 protests, one day” — held a similar protest in Fresno on Monday, Feb. 17.
Organizers said the goal of the protests is to reject “authoritarianism, billionaire-first politics and the militarization of the country’s democracy.”
The Hill reported that Trump, in response to these protests, said, “I don’t feel like a king. I have to go through hell to get stuff approved.”
Walmart Heiress Sparks Backlash from Trump Supporters
While Trump is not named in the “No Kings Day” advertising, a full-page ad published in The New York Times by Walmart heiress Christy Walton sparked backlash from Trump supporters and calls for a boycott of the retail giant, Newsweek reported.

The ad urged Americans to engage in civic discourse and attend town halls, and it emphasized principles such as standing by allies, defending against dictators, and respecting global partnerships.
“WE are a people of principle and honor, WE honor our commitments and stand by our allies, WE Defend against aggression by dictators,” the ad read. It also stated, “Our government is of the people, by the people, for the people.”
