The city of Fresno celebrated the grand reopening of two newly renovated tot lots at Roeding Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday morning.

Located near the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, the Maple Grove and Pine Grove Tot Lots feature upgraded equipment, jungle gyms, soft flooring, and shaded seating areas, transforming them into vibrant play spaces for young children and their families.

City officials said the project was funded through Measure P, a voter-approved sales tax that supports parks, trails, and arts programs across Fresno.

City Councilmember Miguel Arias said that Roeding Park is the most visited park in Fresno. He also thanked Mayor Dyer and his administration for making these changes possible.

Roeding Park is one of the four largest regional parks in Fresno County, covering 90 acres. In addition to the zoo, it includes a lake, multiple ponds, picnic areas, and Storyland, which has a children’s theater and fairy-tale exhibits.

Arias noted future plans for the district include more green space improvements and increasing access to park facilities in underserved neighborhoods.

City officials say the tot lot renovations are part of a broader effort to modernize recreational areas across Fresno.
