Two teenagers were arrested early Monday after leading officers on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle that ended in a crash at a CalFire station in Visalia, police said.
Just after 2:30 a.m., a Visalia police officer attempted to stop a car driving without headlights near Tulare Avenue and Watson Street, the Visalia Police Department reported.
The driver refused to pull over and sped away, eventually turning into a cul-de-sac where the vehicle drove directly toward a patrol car, forcing the officer to swerve to avoid a collision.
The pursuit continued until the vehicle crashed through a chain-link fence at the CalFire station near Lovers Lane and Walnut Avenue.
Both occupants fled on foot but were quickly caught by responding officers.
Police identified the suspects as a 17-year-old driver and a 14-year-old passenger. Both were taken to a hospital for medical clearance before being booked into juvenile hall.
The 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of felony evading police, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy, vehicle theft, and possession of burglary tools, police said.
Authorities also said the 14-year-old was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, conspiracy, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a concealed weapon.
