A Tulare County jury convicted Erika Sandoval on Thursday of first-degree murder in the 2015 shooting death of her ex-husband, former Exeter police officer Daniel Green.

Sandoval, 38, was found guilty of killing Green in his Goshen home on Feb. 6, 2015, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
The verdict, delivered in a Porterville courtroom, includes a special allegation that Sandoval personally and intentionally discharged a firearm causing great bodily injury.

The jury rejected a special circumstance of lying in wait, which means Sandoval is not eligible for the death penalty under California law.
The trial began on Feb. 6, 2025 — exactly 10 years after the crime — and concluded after jury deliberations started on Tuesday. Sandoval’s first trial in 2019 ended with a hung jury.

She is scheduled to be sentenced June 5 in Tulare County Superior Court and faces a potential sentence of 50 years to life in prison.
