A 16-year-old boy was arrested after Fresno police say he was found carrying a stolen handgun during a call for service in Southeast Fresno, the Fresno Police Department said in a statement.
Officers from the department’s Southeast patrol division responded to reports of a possible armed person near Butler Avenue and Fifth Street, police said Tuesday.
After canvassing the area, officers contacted two 16-year-old males.
A search of one of the teens turned up a stolen handgun concealed in his waistband, authorities said. The teen is currently on probation for possession of a stolen vehicle.
He was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Justice Center on multiple charges, including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and probation violation.
