A Fresno woman’s eviction has left heartbreak in its wake — not just for her, but for the four dogs she was forced to leave behind when authorities padlocked her home and yard.
The woman, described as elderly, was evicted roughly a month ago. With nowhere to go, she and her four dogs were pushed out of the only home they knew. The house was secured and locked up — but the dogs remained on the property, left to survive on their own.
Animal control officers eventually captured three of the dogs, but one — a 3-year-old German shepherd named Ginger — ran off and returned days later, sitting alone on the front porch of the empty home, waiting.

“She sat alone on the front porch for days,” Mell Garcia of Mell’s Mutts told GV Wire.
Ginger had shared the yard with two other large dogs and one small dog, showing signs she’s friendly with dogs of all sizes. Described as big but sweet, she is now in need of a permanent home after enduring weeks of abandonment.
Garcia is hoping someone in the Fresno area can give Ginger the fresh start she deserves.
“She’s been through a lot,” said Garcia. “But she hasn’t given up hope.”
