A Fresno man was arrested Wednesday after resisting arrest during a traffic stop following reports of reckless driving, the Kerman Police Department said in a statement.

Officers also observed signs that the driver was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, according to police.
Around 4:30 p.m., the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office notified Kerman police about a white sedan reportedly driving recklessly toward the city limits. The driver was allegedly speeding and traveling on the wrong side of the road, officers said.

Multiple Kerman officers intercepted the vehicle near Madera Avenue and Whitesbridge Road.

During the traffic stop, the driver became combative and refused to comply with officers’ commands, police said. A taser was deployed, and the driver was taken into custody.
A field sobriety test indicated the driver was under the influence of a controlled substance. Due to preexisting medical conditions, he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
