The Visalia Police Department arrested a 24-year-old man on Friday in connection with an ongoing child crime investigation, the department reported.

The investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children unit began in January after Visalia PD Youth Service Officers received a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Following an investigation, detectives identified Reynaldo Chavez Jr. as the suspect.

Officers served a search warrant at a residence near Cherry and Ashland avenues, where they took Chavez into custody.

He was booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility for possession of child sexual abuse material, authorities said.
