Authorities seized 80 pounds of methamphetamine during a vehicle search in Madera County on Thursday, March 20, leading to the arrests of two men.

Juan Salgado, 41, and Fernando Rascon, 39, both of Southern California, were arrested on multiple felony charges including sales, distribution, and conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The men were booked into the Madera County Jail.

The discovery and arrests followed a joint investigation by the Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team , which includes detectives from the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, Madera County Probation, and the Madera County District Attorney’s Office.

The California Department of Justice and the Fresno County High Impact Investigation Team also participated in the operation, authorities said.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California is handling federal prosecution of Salgado.
