Two men were arrested Thursday in connection with a theft at Lululemon in the Fig Garden Village shopping center, the Fresno Police Department said in a statement.

The incident occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. when store employees reported a male suspect entering the store, placing clothing into a bag, and fleeing to a waiting vehicle.

Officers, including members of the department’s Organized Retail Theft team, responded to the scene.

While some officers investigated the store, others searched for the suspect vehicle. The ORT team located the car, which then attempted to flee into a nearby residential neighborhood, police said.

Officers stopped the vehicle and detained two male occupants, identified as Hector Garcia, 29, and Gavin Degroot, 23.

As officers conducted their investigation, a community member reported finding a bag of Lululemon clothing on their lawn, which had been discarded by one of the suspects.

The stolen property, valued at over $6,000, was recovered.

Investigators determined that Garcia had remained in the getaway vehicle while Degroot entered the store and stole the merchandise.

Both suspects are on probation. Garcia is on probation for domestic violence charges; Degroot is on probation for grand theft and was wanted for a probation violation.

The men were booked into Fresno County Jail on charges of felony organized theft, grand theft, and conspiracy to commit theft.
