Westlands Water District is now accepting applications for its 21st annual 2025 High School Scholarships program, looking to award up to 20 $1,000 scholarships.
Over the past 20 years, Westlands has supported the academic pursuits of over 140 students via the scholarships.
“Receiving the Westlands Water District scholarship meant I could continue my education with less stress relating to the costs of university,” said Susana Gamino, a 2023 recipient.
The annual scholarship aids 2025 graduates in their pursuit of higher education, including two-year or four-year colleges.
Westlands is accepting applications until 11:59 p.m. on April 21, 2025.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
The scholarship is open to high school seniors graduating from Westside school districts and no connection to agriculture is required.
The eligible districts: Reef-Sunset Unified School District, Coalinga-Huron Unified School District, Firebaugh-Las Deltas Unified School District, Hanford Joint Union High School District, Lemoore Union High School District, Mendota Unified School District, Riverdale Joint Unified School District, and Golden Plains Unified School District.
Applications require students to submit an application including a short essay, academic transcripts, and two letters of recommendation from non-relatives.
The scholarship will evaluate students based on the submitted documents and their demonstrated leadership, career goals, contribution to their community, and needs.
Westlands will select at least one student from each school district to receive $1,000 for higher education expenses.
Those looking to apply can submit their applications and documents through Westlands’ website, here, and find further information here.
Those chosen will be notified via phone or email.
