Southeast Fresno residents are getting something that isn’t at other city park — a turf field!

The city of Fresno revealed the amenity Wednesday at the ceremonial groundbreaking for a sports complex on South Peach Avenue.

People in attendance were excited, especially members of the Sikh community. Field hockey is a popular sport in their culture and a turf field makes for the best competition.

The 49-acre regional park will also have a grass field and other amenities such as a workout space.

Officials say the estimated completion date for the park is the end of this year.
