The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help in locating a driver involved in a November 2024 hit-and-run that killed a Madera woman and left a man with major injuries.

Officers responded at approximately 1:07 a.m. on Nov. 17, 2024, to reports of a vehicle striking two pedestrians on northbound Highway 99, south of Houghton Road in Bakersfield.

According to the CHP, a grey Ford compact vehicle was traveling in the No. 2 lane when it struck a 46-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman who were walking across the highway.

The driver fled the scene before officers arrived. The woman died at the scene, while the man was transported to Kern Medical.

Investigators recovered vehicle debris identifying the car as a Ford Fusion.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bakersfield CHP office at (661) 396-6600.
