Fresno Pedestrian Killed in Crash Identified

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office identified the pedestrian as William Hanson, 58, of Fresno, on Wednesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on near Clinton and Barton avenues on Monday, authorities said in a statement.

At approximately 7:40 p.m., a 43-year-old male was driving a Toyota pickup eastbound on Clinton Avenue when a 58-year-old male pedestrian attempted to cross the street from south to north, directly into the path of the approaching vehicle.

Despite the driver’s attempts to avoid the collision, the pedestrian was struck by the front of the pickup, suffering life-threatening injuries.

The pedestrian was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, with toxicology results pending to determine whether alcohol or drugs may have contributed to the incident, authorities said.
