What are the chances of sideswiping a big rig, having your car rear-ended by a train, and surviving?

Well, a driver in Madera County found out and should be on the way to buying a lottery ticket.

CHP Madera officers responded this morning to a non-injury crash on Highway 99, just north of Road 15 near Chowchilla on Thursday, the agency said in a statement.

The driver of a Honda Accord was southbound when they sideswiped a big rig.

The impact caused the driver to further lose control, veer off the road, and come to rest on the railroad tracks. Fortunately, the driver safely exited the vehicle.

Minutes later, the Honda was rear-ended by an oncoming train and pushed about a quarter mile.

If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, never stay in your vehicle. Call 9-1-1 and stay as far back from the railroad tracks as possible.
