A driver disappeared after rolling a vehicle on Highway 41, leaving authorities searching for answers, the California Highway Patrol said in a Wednesday evening statement.

Officials said that hit-and-run crashes are a growing problem.

Law enforcement warns that fleeing the scene of a crash rarely leads to escape, as modern technology and witness cooperation often help identify those responsible.
“So, if you’re nervous, scared, or feel the urge to run after a crash, don’t! Trust us, the consequences of trying to disappear are much worse than just sticking around and owning up,” the CHP said.
