A 61-year-old man was arrested Monday night after allegedly shooting a woman inside a home in Madera, the Madera Police Department reported.

Officers responded to a home near Solano and Sauret streets after receiving a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Police found a 60-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper torso in the home.

Investigators determined that the man fired the weapon, striking the victim.
All parties involved were present when police arrived, and the woman was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The suspect was taken into custody and booked into Madera County Jail.
