Rain is back in Fresno’s immediate future although a large amount isn’t expected.

The city has received .12 inches during a dry January, leaving the seasonal rain gauge at 64% of normal at 3.04 inches.

The National Weather Service’s Hanford office predicts a 20% chance of rain Saturday morning increasing to 70% Saturday night.

Sunday morning will arrive with a 50% chance of precipitation dropping to 40% in the evening. There also could be rain in the overnight hours ending at about 4 a.m.

Altogether, the storm could deliver a quarter-inch of rain.

Two Inches or More of Snow in the Sierra

It’s a different story in the Sierra, where there is a 40% to 60% chance that at least two inches of snow will fall, the NWS said.

The Kern County mountains could see the heaviest snowfall with up to six inches in the forecast.

A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect Saturday afternoon and evening through Monday afternoon in the Sierra.

The Fresno area should see calm winds and morning lows continuing in the mid-30s through Thursday.
