The film “Between Borders,” which is based on a true story about an oppressed Armenian family in the final days of the Soviet Union, will have a red carpet premiere at 3 p.m. Saturday in Fresno at Riverpark Regal Edwards.
Elizabeth Tabish — best known for her portrayal of Mary Magdalene in “The Chosen” television series — is the lead actress. She will attend the premiere, as will Mark Freiburger, who wrote, directed, and produced Between Borders.
The film centers on an outcast family that faces discrimination because they are Armenians in their home country of Azerbaijan and later in Russia. The hostility of everyday life then pushes them to seek refuge in the United States.
