The Fresno Police Department announced that officers arrested eight drivers on suspicion of DUI during an enforcement operation on Friday.

First-time DUI offenders can face significant consequences, including an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties and a suspended driver’s license, authorities said.

The department plans to conduct another DUI enforcement operation on Saturday.

Authorities said that they will have additional patrols and checkpoints throughout the year aimed at reducing impaired driving and keeping roadways safe.
