Walmart is making a bold move into the luxury market by partnering with resale platform Rebag to offer high-end pre-owned items on its online marketplace.
Starting from January 16, shoppers have had access to over 27,000 luxury products from brands such as Chanel, Fendi, Prada, and Louis Vuitton.
This strategic move follows the viral success of the “Wirkin,” a dupe of the famous Hermès Birkin bag. Walmart aims to attract wealthier shoppers who have been driving recent sales growth by offering luxury goods at more accessible prices.
“The exclusive collection is designed to offer access to hard-to-find pieces that many shoppers may not expect to find at Walmart,” a company spokesperson told Quartz.

The partnership aligns with Walmart’s sustainability goals and expands its “Resold at Walmart” section for secondhand goods. It also strengthens Walmart’s position in the competitive e-commerce landscape, where it faces stiff competition from Amazon.
