A rebuilding Fresno State football program landed freshman defensive tackle Martin Owusu from the University of Minnesota and signed a three-star linebacker in Niko Baumgartner of De La Salle High School in Concord on Sunday.

Owusu Adds to the Defensive Line
The 6′ 2, 300-pound Owusu redshirted in 2023 with the Gophers and appeared in one game in 2024. The Academic All-Big Ten selection has three years of eligibility remaining.

Coming to the program healthy, he’ll compete for playing time following the front four departures of Gavriel Lightfoot (Colorado) and Jacob Holmes (Virginia).
Baumgartner Joins the Bulldog Family
Baumgartner comes to Fresno from the powerhouse Spartans. The 6-2, 190-pound defender had over 100 tackles and recorded four sacks as a senior. He became the Bulldogs’ 13th high school recruit in the class of 2025.

Bulldog blood runs in the family. His older brother Kavika, a defensive lineman, just graduated.
With seniors Tuasivi Nomura and Malachia Langley graduating, and Phoenix Jackson at Baylor, he’ll join transfers KāVion Thunderbird (Arizona State) and Jadon Pearson (Utah State) as newcomers in the linebacker room.
