A wanted man led police on a chaotic pursuit through Fresno on Thursday afternoon, temporarily shutting down Highway 180 traffic before being apprehended, the Fresno Police Department told GV Wire.

Around 1:40 p.m., Fresno police officers and members of the U.S. Marshals Service attempted to locate a man in his 20s near Peach and Olive avenues.

The suspect was wanted for felony domestic violence and a parole violation.

Officers spotted the man, but he fled onto the highway, running along lanes of traffic.

At one point, he carjacked a vehicle in an effort to escape. Authorities followed the suspect as he drove erratically, eventually reaching the area of Florence Avenue and Golden State Boulevard.

Police executed a pursuit intervention technique to stop the vehicle. The man attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended without further incident, authorities said.

The suspect was taken to Community Regional Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.

He faces multiple charges, including felony domestic violence, parole violation, and felony evading.
