Fresno State junior forward Alex Crawford scored 19 of his career-high 26 points after intermission and blocked two shots, but the Bulldogs fell, 89-83, at Utah State on Saturday.
The Bulldogs dropped to 4-11 overall and 0-4 in Mountain West men’s basketball while the conference-co-leading Aggies improved to 14-1 and 4-0.
Karson Templin’s 18 points off the bench led the Aggies and he added 10 rebounds in the game at Logan, Utah.
Utah State’s Ian Martinez added 16 points while going 5 of 11 from the floor, including 3 for 7 from 3-point range, and grabbed six rebounds. Mason Falslev finished with 14 points while adding six rebounds and four steals for the Aggies.
Crawford was supported by Jalen Weaver, who scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds. In his first start of the season, junior guard Jasir Tremble had 12 points and three steals for the Bulldogs. He made four of Fresno State’s seven 3-point baskets.
Utah State went into the break trailing 42-39 but squeezed out the victory thanks to Templin’s 12 second-half points.
