Mikey Keene put Fresno State in a position to upset the Michigan Wolverines in the Bulldogs’ 2024 season football opener.
Fresno State ended up losing 30-10 in Ann Arbor and Keene threw two interceptions, but the Wolverines must have liked what they saw of Keene.
Keene, who began his career at UCF, has committed to Michigan after entering the transfer portal.
He declared for the transfer portal on Dec. 3, a day before the Bulldogs announced the hiring of head coach Matt Entz from USC to take over reigns from the interim coach Tim Skipper.
ESPN ranked Keene as the 10th-best available quarterback in the portal.

Keene’s Stats at Fresno State
247 Sports reported that Keene completed 277 of 393 pass attempts this season, accumulating 2,892 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He finished sixth in completion percentage, 32nd in passing yards per game, and 43rd in passer efficiency rating. However, the Bulldogs stumbled late to a 6-6 regular season record with Keene at the helm after expectations of at least a nine-win season.
The Bulldogs are playing Northern Illinois today in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Joshua Wood started at quarterback for the Bulldogs in the game.
Keene led the Mountain West in completion percentage each of the past two seasons and in 2024 led the MW in completions and passing yards.
Collegiate Experience and Future at Michigan
Keene is entering his fifth collegiate season (one year of eligibility remaining) and has thrown for more than 8,000 yards at Fresno State and UCF.
In Ann Arbor, Keene is expected to compete for a starting job but will battle against a highly touted incoming freshman and No. 1 overall high school recruit in Bryce Underwood. There’s also the potentially returning starter Davis Warren or rising redshirt freshman Jadyn Davis.
Former Bulldogs Head to Other Programs
Other former Bulldogs have also committed to big-time programs: wide receiver Raylen Sharpe (Arkansas), defensive lineman Gavriel Lightfoot (Colorado), defensive lineman Jacob Holmes (Virginia), linebacker Phoenix Jackson (Baylor), and cornerback Julian Neal (Stanford).
