A woman died early Friday morning in what deputies are investigating as a homicide, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

Around 1:20 a.m., deputies responded to a report of an injured person on Fowler Avenue, between Clinton and Olive avenues.

They discovered the woman and attempted to provide medical aid, but she died at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear, authorities said. The coroner is conducting an examination to determine more details.

Detectives are canvassing the area for evidence and potential witnesses to piece together what happened. As of Friday, the woman had not been identified.
