A Strathmore man was arrested Thursday after authorities say he threatened to kill students and staff at Strathmore Middle School, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.

Around 3 p.m., deputies responded to the school near Avenue 198 and Orange Belt Drive after receiving a report that a man had made threats to kill four girls and school staff.

Deputies identified the suspect as Jason Mitchell, 43, of Strathmore. Investigators say Mitchell threatened to assault and kill the girls and staff before leaving the campus.

Mitchell was later located and booked into the Tulare County Jail on charges of making criminal threats.
