A collision involving two suspected impaired drivers left one seriously injured at the intersection of Cedar Street and Mt. Whitney Avenue, according to a statement made by the California Highway Patrol on Wednesday.

The crash happened when one of the drivers ran a stop sign, causing a devastating impact between the two vehicles.

Both drivers, whose names have not been released, were believed to be under the influence at the time of the incident.
Although injuries were serious for the driver who failed to stop, police reported that seat belts likely prevented further tragedy.

Officials are urging drivers to think twice and avoid getting behind the wheel while impaired.
