According to court documents, between November 2022 and February 2023, Anderson committed a series of pipe bombings on unoccupied vehicles and property in Fresno.

The bombings damaged vehicles belonging to two auto-related businesses on Clinton Avenue in Fresno. On Feb. 19, 2023, a bomb heavily damaged a vehicle used by a home health care business on Fallbrook Avenue in Fresno. Anderson sometimes recorded his crimes by video. Law enforcement also recovered a pistol in Anderson’s bedroom.

In March 2023, Authorities apprehended Anderson in Riverside County, where investigators had to evacuate a neighborhood in Temecula out of concern that the vehicle occupied by Anderson and co-conspirator Paul New might have explosives.

New pleaded guilty to charges from the case on Sept. 25 and is set for sentencing in Fresno federal court on Dec. 17.

Anderson was previously convicted of carrying a loaded and concealed weapon and is prohibited from possessing a gun.

The Fresno Police Department, the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael G. Tierney was the prosecutor.
