A confrontation outside the Curry House Restaurant and Bar in Fresno on Tuesday night left one man dead and another in custody, the Fresno Police Department said in a news release.

Just before 8 p.m., Lovepreet Singh, 28, called 911, saying he had been involved in a fight at the restaurant near Ashlan and West avenues and had fired a gun. He told dispatchers he would surrender when police arrived.
Officers found Lovepreet nearby, detained him, and recovered a semi-automatic firearm.

In the restaurant’s parking lot, first responders found Harmanpreet Singh, 29, with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.
Witnesses said the two men, both from Modesto, had attended a celebration together at the restaurant.
The situation escalated when Lovepreet allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Harmanpreet. As he fled, Lovepreet reportedly fired another shot at a second person but missed.

Lovepreet has been booked into Fresno County Jail, facing charges of murder and attempted murder, according to authorities.
