Selma Man Kills Pedestrian in DUI Hit-and-Run

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run on Friday night in Selma, the Selma Police Department reported late Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred around 8:14 p.m. near Floral Avenue and Wright Street, where officers found Robert Leeper, a Selma resident, with life-threatening injuries. Leeper later died, according to the Selma Police Department.

Authorities located the suspect, identified as Roberto Ramos, 39, also of Selma, and determined he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was identified as an employee of the city’s Public Works Department.

Ramos was arrested and booked into Fresno County Jail on charges including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony DUI.
