Fresno resident Charles Ramirez died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroners Office identified 63-year-old Ramirez on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Sample Road, west of Pittman Hills Road, in eastern Fresno County.

According to the CHP, Ramirez was riding westbound on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he drove off the roadway onto the right shoulder.

His motorcycle collided with a metal road sign, throwing him off the motorcycle. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Preliminary investigations indicate that alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the accident.

This is an ongoing investigation.
