A tip to the National Human Trafficking Hotline has led to the arrest of two siblings in connection with a prostitution operation in Tulare County, the Tulare District Attorney’s office said in a news release.

Law enforcement officials from the Tulare County Human Trafficking Task Force arrested Enrique Castro Reyes, 27, and Erika Castro Reyes, 30, on charges of pandering and pimping on Aug. 19.

The investigation began in May after a caller to the hotline reported suspicions about a massage business advertised on Facebook Marketplace in the Tulare County town of Tipton.

The caller, who had been seeking a legitimate massage, became suspicious when it became clear the business was not offering legal services. He reported the incident, which was then referred to the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office through the Human Trafficking Task Force.

Investigators launched a probe, utilizing search warrants, phone records, and GPS tracking. The investigation culminated in simultaneous raids in Tulare and Fresno counties, resulting in the arrests.

Both Enrique and Erika Castro Reyes are being held in the Tulare County Jail. A Tulare DA spokesman said the siblings could face up to seven years and four months in prison if convicted.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 30 in Tulare County Superior Court.

Human trafficking often operates in plain sight. Authorities urge the public to learn the signs of trafficking and report suspicious activity to the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888.
